Driving Notes
- The inner Berlin "Umweltzone" (environmental zone) starts inside the S-Bahn ring; you need the green emissions sticker on the windscreen.
- Urban speed limit is 50 km/h unless signs show otherwise; many residential streets have 30 km/h.
- Rural roads allow 100 km/h. The Autobahn near Berlin has recommended limits of 130 km/h but some sections have no speed limit; drive according to conditions.
- The legal blood-alcohol limit is 0.05%, and it is 0.00% for drivers under 21 or with less than two years of driving experience.
- "Stellplatz" means a motorhome parking area, usually paved, with basic services and lower fees than campgrounds.
- Many central streets have height restrictions under 3.0 m; check your van height before entering car parks.
- No tolls for private vehicles on German motorways; only trucks pay tolls.
- Peak traffic on the A100 city ring occurs on weekdays 07:00–10:00 and 15:30–19:00.

- Shell Tankstelle Seestraße near A111: easy access for tall vehicles and has LPG.
- Wohnmobil-Oase Berlin service point: paid fresh water and grey/black tank disposal even for non-guests (call ahead).
Useful Information
- Berlin winter nights drop below –5°C; use winter diesel and carry windscreen antifreeze.
- Emergency services number is 112 nationwide; police is 110.
- Many residential zones forbid engine idling after 22:00; police may fine noisy generators.
- Bikes have priority lanes; turning right across a cycle lane without checking mirrors results in high fines.
- Refilling LPG on Sundays is more difficult; only motorway stations can legally open all day.
- The "Brandenburger Tor" area blocks motor traffic during large events; follow diversion signs marked "City-Umleitung".
