EV Charging Stations on the Gold Coast

Charging stations on the Gold Coast are generally located in shopping malls, supermarkets, hotels, car parks and petrol stations.

In 2021 the City of Gold Coast built its own network of 10 fast chargers (75 kW DC) to help drivers switch to electric vehicles. The sites stretched 50 km from Pimpama to Coolangatta, and the first opened at Broadbeach in January 2021². Most of that network has since gone. By November 2024, five sites (Carrara, Southport, Broadbeach, Nerang and Coolangatta) had stopped working because spare parts could not be found, and they were removed from the Chargefox app³. By April 2025 the council listed just three working stations: Bundall, Miami and Pimpama⁴.

Growth on the Gold Coast is now driven by private networks such as Tesla, Evie, Ampol AmpCharge and Chargefox at shopping centres, service stations and hotels, plus the Queensland Electric Super Highway site at Gold Coast Airport³. Around 56 public charging locations were listed for the central Gold Coast in August 2026¹.
