The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has more than 300 public EV charging bays across Canberra and surrounding areas¹. Central Canberra has around 51 public EV charging locations, as of August 2026², with a mix of fast and ultra-fast options. Nationally, Australia had roughly 11,100 public charging points in 2025³. Growth of EV chargers in the ACT

The ACT has set a goal of 80-90% of all new vehicle sales being ZEVs by 2030⁴. To keep up with demand, infrastructure is under construction to support more EVs on the road. As a result, the number of publicly available charging stations in the ACT has been ramping up each year.

Public EV chargers in the ACT, official counts 2018–2025 — ACT Government counts of public EV chargers at each published date. Counting units differ between documents (charge points in 2018, chargers or stations later), so the December 2021 outlook count of 58 sits above the 30 the government cited in August 2022. The December 2023 figure was published as more than 125. No official 2019 or 2020 count exists.
