Growth of EV chargers in South Australia

The South Australian government backed RAA with a $12.35 million grant to build a statewide charging network³ of 144 charging sites with more than 550 plugs, completed in July 2025⁴, in addition to the privately owned stations. Together with those private networks, the number of EV charging sites in Adelaide and South Australia has grown sharply since 2019.

The Electric Vehicle Council counted 136 public fast and ultra-fast charging locations in South Australia in mid-2025⁵, up from 51 in mid-2023⁶ and just 4 DC fast-charging sites in 2019⁷. The state-backed RAA Charge network alone now covers 144 sites with more than 550 plugs⁴, 100 of them in regional South Australia³.
