EV Charging Stations in Tasmania

Public EV charging stations in Tasmania are located in many shopping malls, supermarkets, hotels, car parks and petrol stations.

Examples of public chargers at these kinds of locations include:

• bp pulse Moonah (petrol station) – 30 Main Road, Moonah TAS 7009. Four ultra-fast bays rated up to 150 kW, CCS2 only, open 24/7.³
• Kingston Town Shopping Centre (shopping centre) – 57 Maranoa Road, Kingston TAS 7050. Two 50 kW CCS2 chargers in the car park at the eastern end of the building, open 24/7.⁴
• Wrest Point Hotel Casino (hotel) – 402 Sandy Bay Road, Sandy Bay TAS 7005. An Electric Highway Tasmania site with four 80 kW CCS2 stalls plus one CHAdeMO, accessed via the Chargefox app, open 24/7.⁵

The Tasmanian Government has several commitments in place to support the uptake of electric vehicles. These include cheaper registration fees, stamp duty exemptions, and grants to support charging infrastructure. Due to this and other factors, the number of publicly available charging stations is on the rise each year. Electric Vehicle Council counts show Tasmania's fast and ultra-fast public charging sites growing from 19 in June 2022⁶ to 36 in June 2023⁷, 43 in December 2023⁸, 45 in June 2024⁹ and 53 in June 2025¹⁰, when nine of those sites offered ultra-fast (100 kW+) charging.
